KeepWise is a local-first personal organization tool. It does not require an account, does not provide subscriptions or payments, and does not operate a marketplace or social network. The recommendations shown by the App are reflective organization suggestions, not professional valuations or instructions.
1. Introduction and Acceptance
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form a legally binding agreement between you and the developer or publisher identified on the KeepWise Google Play listing (“KeepWise,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms govern your download, installation, access to, and use of the KeepWise Android application, including its local item-recording, reflection, decision-support, list-management, and related features (collectively, the “App” or the “Services”).
By installing, opening, accessing, or using KeepWise, you confirm that you have read and understood these Terms and agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the App and uninstall it from your device.
The Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms and explains how information is handled when you use KeepWise. Where mandatory consumer-protection or privacy laws grant you rights that cannot be waived, those rights remain unaffected.
2. Eligibility and Legal Capacity
You may use KeepWise only if you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms under the laws that apply to you. If you are under the age at which you can independently consent to digital services in your jurisdiction, you may use the App only with authorization and supervision from a parent or legal guardian, unless local law requires otherwise.
KeepWise is a general-audience organization utility and is not specifically directed to children. The App does not require account registration or age-verification information.
3. Description of KeepWise
KeepWise helps users create private records about physical belongings and reflect on whether those belongings should be kept, repaired, gifted, donated, sold through a separate service, recycled, discarded, or reconsidered later. Typical functions may include:
Adding an item name, category, condition, last-used range, optional note, and optional photo;
Answering a fixed set of personal reflection questions;
Receiving a locally generated organization suggestion based on the answers provided;
Choosing and recording a preferred next action for the item;
Viewing, editing, re-evaluating, completing, or deleting locally stored item records;
Accessing About, Help, Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, feedback, rating, sharing, and local-data deletion functions.
KeepWise is not a storage inventory platform, cloud backup service, appraisal service, recycling service, donation broker, marketplace, logistics provider, or professional advisory service. The App does not arrange or complete a sale, donation, recycling collection, repair, or disposal transaction on your behalf.
4. No Account, Payment, Subscription, or Social Features
The current version of KeepWise does not require or offer user accounts, sign-in, paid subscriptions, in-app purchases, virtual currency, messaging, public profiles, public posting, comments, user discovery, or other social-network functions. You can use the core App without registering personal account credentials with KeepWise.
If a future version introduces accounts, payments, cloud services, advertising, analytics, or social functions, we will update the applicable terms and privacy disclosures before or when those features become available, as required by applicable law and platform rules.
5. License to Use the App
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, KeepWise grants you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and non-sublicensable license to install and use the App on compatible Android devices that you own or control, solely for lawful personal use.
This license does not transfer ownership of the App or any intellectual-property rights to you. Except where applicable law expressly permits otherwise, you may not:
Copy, modify, translate, adapt, or create derivative works of the App;
Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, attempt to derive source code, bypass security controls, or tamper with the App;
Sell, rent, lease, sublicense, redistribute, or commercially exploit the App;
Use automated systems to interfere with, overload, test, scrape, or access the App in an unauthorized manner;
Remove or alter proprietary notices, trademarks, copyright notices, or branding;
Use the App in a manner that violates applicable law, third-party rights, or Google Play rules.
6. Your Item Records and Photos
You may enter item names, categories, descriptions, notes, decision answers, final actions, and optional photos (“User Records”). As between you and KeepWise, you retain your rights in User Records.
Because the current version is designed to store User Records locally, KeepWise does not need a broad license to publish or commercially use your User Records. You grant the App only the limited technical permission needed to process, display, edit, store, and delete User Records on your device at your request.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to use any photo or information you add. Do not add content that is unlawful, infringes another person’s intellectual-property or privacy rights, or contains information you are not authorized to store.
7. Local Storage, Backups, and Device Responsibility
KeepWise is designed as a local-first application. User Records and copied item images are generally stored in the App’s private storage area or local database on your Android device. The current version does not provide KeepWise cloud backup, cross-device synchronization, or account-based recovery.
You are responsible for protecting your device, setting a device lock where appropriate, and maintaining any backups you consider necessary. Data may be permanently lost if you uninstall KeepWise, clear the App’s storage through Android settings, use the in-app Clear Local Data function, reset or lose your device, or if the device or local database becomes damaged.
KeepWise is not responsible for local data loss caused by device failure, operating-system changes, user deletion, uninstalling, storage cleanup, malware, unauthorized device access, or circumstances outside our reasonable control, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Camera, Photo, and System Permissions
KeepWise may request access to the camera only when you choose to take a photo of an item. It may open Android’s system photo picker or request an applicable media permission only when you choose to select an existing image. These permissions are optional for the text-based decision process.
You can deny or revoke permissions using Android settings. Some photo-related functions may be unavailable after permission is denied, but you can generally continue without adding a photo. The availability and behavior of system permission dialogs may vary by Android version and device manufacturer.
9. Organization Suggestions and Decision Disclaimer
KeepWise may generate suggestions such as “keep,” “consider another destination,” “repair and reassess,” or “undecided.” These suggestions are produced from the information and answers you provide using predefined local rules. They are designed to help you organize your own thoughts.
KeepWise does not determine an item’s objective value and does not provide professional, legal, financial, tax, insurance, environmental, recycling, waste-management, product-safety, medical, or psychological advice. Suggestions are not guarantees, diagnoses, appraisals, certifications, or instructions.
You remain solely responsible for deciding what to do with an item and for checking all applicable safety instructions, warranties, ownership rights, local laws, recycling rules, donation requirements, and disposal regulations before acting.
10. Special and Sensitive Items
Use additional care with items that may create safety, privacy, legal, or financial risks. For example:
Erase personal information from phones, computers, drives, cameras, and other electronic devices before transfer or disposal;
Follow local requirements for batteries, electronics, chemicals, paint, medication, sharp objects, pressurized containers, and other hazardous materials;
Do not discard identity documents, tax records, contracts, financial records, keys, access cards, or confidential materials without an appropriate review and secure-destruction process;
Seek qualified advice before disposing of high-value, collectible, inherited, regulated, leased, financed, or jointly owned property;
Do not rely on KeepWise to identify whether an item is dangerous, recalled, illegal, authentic, valuable, recyclable, or suitable for donation.
11. Acceptable Use
You agree to use KeepWise responsibly and lawfully. You must not:
Use the App to facilitate unlawful conduct or the handling of stolen, prohibited, or regulated property;
Store unlawful images or information through the App;
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another person’s device, records, or permissions;
Introduce malicious code, interfere with functionality, or exploit security vulnerabilities;
Misrepresent KeepWise suggestions as professional or certified advice;
Use KeepWise branding or content in a way that falsely suggests sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation.
12. Third-Party Platforms and Device Services
KeepWise may interact with services supplied by third parties, such as Google Play, Android system components, the system camera, photo picker, sharing interface, email application, or app-rating page. Those services are controlled by their respective providers and may be subject to separate terms and privacy policies.
KeepWise is not responsible for the availability, content, security, data practices, or performance of third-party platforms. Your use of those services is governed by the terms between you and the relevant provider.
13. Feedback and Support
You may voluntarily submit feedback or support questions using the contact method offered in the App or on its Google Play listing. If you submit ideas, suggestions, or recommendations about KeepWise, you grant us permission to use that feedback to improve the App without payment or obligation to you, provided that we do not publicly identify you without permission.
Support availability, response times, and supported languages may vary. We do not guarantee that every request will receive an individual response.
14. Intellectual Property
The App, including its software, interface structure, text, graphics, icons, logos, trademarks, arrangement, and original materials, is owned by or licensed to the KeepWise publisher and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Third-party names and marks remain the property of their respective owners.
Nothing in these Terms grants you the right to use KeepWise trademarks, trade names, logos, or branding except as necessary to use the App normally.
15. Updates, Compatibility, and Availability
We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of KeepWise to improve performance, address security issues, adapt to Android or Google Play requirements, or change the product. Updates may add, remove, or change features.
We do not guarantee that KeepWise will be compatible with every device, operating-system version, manufacturer modification, storage configuration, or accessibility setting. Some updates may be required for continued use. Where practical, we will avoid unnecessary loss of local data, but you remain responsible for reviewing update information and maintaining any available device backups.
16. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, KeepWise is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, uninterrupted operation, error-free operation, and security.
We do not warrant that the App will always be available, that local records will never be lost or corrupted, that suggestions will meet your expectations, or that all errors will be corrected. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
17. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, KeepWise and its publisher, affiliates, licensors, service providers, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, loss of property value, loss of opportunity, replacement costs, or decisions made about an item, arising out of or related to the App.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability relating to KeepWise will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid specifically for KeepWise during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim or the minimum amount required by applicable law. Because KeepWise currently has no paid features, this limitation may be subject to mandatory consumer-law remedies in your jurisdiction.
18. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless KeepWise and its publisher from third-party claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable expenses arising from your unlawful use of the App, your violation of these Terms, your infringement of another person’s rights, or content you add without authorization. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from our own unlawful conduct or negligence where liability cannot be excluded.
19. Ending Use of KeepWise
Because KeepWise does not use user accounts in the current version, you may stop using the Services at any time by deleting your records, using Clear Local Data, or uninstalling the App. Uninstalling or clearing storage may permanently remove local records.
We may restrict or discontinue distribution of KeepWise if required by law, platform policy, security considerations, or product decisions. Clauses that by their nature should survive termination—including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute provisions—will remain effective.
20. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where the KeepWise publisher is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except that mandatory consumer-protection rules in your place of residence continue to apply. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from using any dispute-resolution or consumer-remedy process that cannot legally be waived.
Before filing a formal claim, you are encouraged to contact us using the support contact on the Google Play listing and provide a reasonable opportunity to resolve the matter informally.
21. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms to reflect changes to KeepWise, law, security practices, or Google Play requirements. The updated version will display a revised effective date and may be made available in the App or through the App’s official listing or website. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide notice where required by law.
Your continued use of KeepWise after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, except where applicable law requires a different form of consent.
22. General Provisions
Entire Agreement: These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement regarding your use of KeepWise.
Severability: If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
No Waiver: Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.
Assignment: You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without permission. We may transfer these Terms as part of a merger, reorganization, asset transfer, or change of publisher, subject to applicable law.
Headings: Headings are for convenience and do not affect interpretation.
Language: If translated versions are provided, the English version controls to the extent permitted by law, unless local law requires otherwise.
